Confession: I'm late a lot.
This is evidenced by the fact that I'm doing my first Thursday Thirteen... on FRIDAY!! In fairness, I have had 3 sick kids home with me at various times this week, and haven't been feeling too well myself. Not that it would matter. Just ask my husband. And while we're on the subject of lateness, here's 13 interesting excuses I have found for being late. These are particularly good if you're late for work.
1. Sorry, my AA meeting ran a little longer than usual.
2. My husband thinks it's funny to hide my car keys before he goes to work.
3. I had to go audition for American Idol.
4. I was dreaming about a baseball game, and it went into extra innings.
5. I drove to the place I'd rather work at by mistake.
6. My left turn signal was out so I had to make all right turns to get here.
7. I was losing my mind this morning. It took me a half hour to find it.
8. I had a meeting with The Pope. (note: does not work on The Pope)
9. I had a meeting with The President (note: does not work on The President)
10. I'm sorry but I had to... oh look... a shiny object. (This one may only work on me)
11. I was pretty sure I saw Elvis and had to follow him to be sure. Turns out, it wasn't him.
12. My kids locked me in the bathroom and wouldn't let me out until I agreed to get a kitten.
13. I was busy thinking up reasons for being late for the Thursday Thirteen.

When I was in high school I worked at McDonald's at 4:30am every Saturday for about a year. You can imagine how many times I was late. I loved it because I was off by 2 every day.
I think some days my managers would have laughed at any of these. My favorite is number 5, but I love my job now.

I'm thinking I love no. 5 too! no.7 rings true, no. 2 would be good, and true half the time, except its not my hubby, its me... Oh heck with it, they're all great!! I think my boss would laugh if I used any of them! Love your blog!
#2, #6, #12 are my favorites.
My husband would tell you that #10 would be my excuse though :)

This is so funny and sooo very true for me also, especially No 7!
I have MANY good friends (and know several hundred children - I'm a teahcer) who could use #10 (or have #10 used on them) and it would work perfectly. You're not the only one!
